Help Students Make History: Become a History Fair JudgeThe Chicago Metro History Education Center (CMHEC) invites you to serve as a judge at a 2013 History Fair event. As a judge, you will evaluate historical research projects—documentaries, performances, exhibits, websites, or research papers on topics related to Chicago history—produced by local students in grades 6-8 or 9-12. Register online or download a print registration form. No previous experience or specialized degree in history or education are necessary. All you need is an appreciation for student effort, an interest in history, and a commitment to quality education. On the day of the History Fair event, you will receive a full orientation and each new History Fair judge will be paired with an experienced judge.
CMHEC needs 500 volunteer judges each year to make History Fair a success. Please see the many judging opportunities that are available and select the session that works best for you. Upon receiving your registration, CMHEC will send a confirmation letter with additional information to help you prepare. The weekend event dates for 2013 are: Saturdays, March 2, March 16, and April 13. Weekday or evening sessions are available for judging papers in March and April. Also, we now offer judging in cyberspace for the website category! Find a judging opportunity that best fits your schedule and to sign-up, visit our online registration website OR complete the Volunteer Judges Registration Form, and FAX it back to CMHEC at 312-266-8223.
