Register
Registration is quick and easy. The Chicago Metro History Education Center (CMHEC) has set up an Active Giving online center to manage registrations and charitable contributions. This site will allow you to sign up for the event, pay your registration fee securely, and reach out to potential donors who would like to sponsor your walk.
The Active Giving site allows you to register in one of three categories:
- Adult – $30 per person
- Student or Alumni Rate – $20 per person
- Team Rate – $20 per team member
Registering as a team allows you to coordinate the efforts of your friends and family and walk as a group on May 17. Team captains can create a team during personal registration. Click on "team rate" – you will be able to create your team during stage 2 of the registration process. Your team members will then be able to join this team when they register for the walk. Each team member must be registered to participate.
Registration Instructions:

- Click on “Register for this Event” at the top of the page and follow the prompts
- Category of registration and waiver
Note: If you would like to set up a new team or join an existing team, click on “Team Rate” – the following screen will allow you to join a team or create your own.
- Complete form
Note: If you do not already have an active.com username and password, you will be asked to create a free one here. This information will allow you to log into your account to access your account history and manage your fundraising efforts.
- Submit payment
- Print receipt
- When your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation via email.

- Log-in at http://www.active.com/activegiving/
- Click on "Campaign Center" at the top of the page
- Select your individual/team page from the "campaign" drop-down menu
- Click on "Customize My Webpage"

text and web page settings, add a photo, manage
communication with your donors, and more!
Collect pledges - online or off!
The Hike for History web site automatically sets up a personal fundraising page for each person who registers. There is no fundraising minimum for walkers, but we hope that you will take advantage of this easy system to reach out to your friends and family. A short email to the key correspondents in your address book often adds up quickly – especially with online contributions. The average online gift is $59 – 50% more than offline gifts!
Your personal fundraising page allows you to set a fundraising goal and keep track of your donors. You can invite your friends and families to contribute directly from your fundraising center or simply cut and paste the URL into your own email.

100% of Hike for History proceeds benefit the Chicago Metro History Fair and the students and teachers who participate. Your contribution will help make it possible for the Chicago Metro History Education Center to offer the Fair to students from 150 schools and support the students and teachers who participate.
