Walk as a Team

Make the Hike for History more fun by joining as a team! Organize a team of any size at your school, workplace, or among your friends and family. Feel free to demonstrate your team spirit to your fellow walkers by wearing team t-shirts, hats, or other things that demonstrate your camaraderie. To the extent possible, team members will walk together, but large groups may split in order to keep group sizes manageable for a walking tour. To sign up as a team, click on "team rate" when you register. When you enter the "team rate" registration site, you will be able to join a team or create your own.

Team Registration:  $20 per person

Individual Walkers

You need not be part of a team to Hike for History. If you register as an individual, you'll have a great opportunity to meet fellow friends of the History Fair at the event. To sign up as an individual, click here.

Adult Registration: $30 per person
History Fair Student/Alumni Rate:  $20 per person

Don’t worry if your gym membership is out of date – the route is only about 5k (around 3 miles) at a leisurely pace.

Collect Donations and Win Prizes

When you register, Active Giving automatically sets up an individual fundraising page for you so that your friends and family can contribute in your name.  You can customize your personal or your team's page by setting your own fundraising goal, adding a personal message, and even adding photos. Simply sending an email to those in your address book letting them know why you are Hiking for History will add up. The greatest asset of the Chicago Metro History Fair is the deep enthusiasm and passion for history reflected in the personal stories and experiences of its participants, teachers, alumni, and friends. Help us turn that excitement into the dollars that we need to ensure that others have the opportunity to experience the History Fair.

If ten of YOUR friends donate $20 each, you would raise $200 toward the $10,000 goal that we have set for this year’s Hike.  Yes, it’s that easy. From your web page, you can email friends and family, encouraging them to support the History Fair.

Fundraisers who collect at least $50 in contributions will receive a "Hike for History" sling backpack where you can store your water bottle and event materials as you walk. Top individual and team fundraisers will be rewarded with special prizes to be awarded on May 17.
