Steps for Successful Fundraising
- Once you register for the event, your personal fundraising page is created automatically.
- Personalize your home page by setting a fundraising goal and adding your own message.
- As soon as your site is complete, send an email to your friends and family explaining why you are Hiking for History with a link to your site. (You can also use the e-communication tools provided within your fundraising center to reach out.)
- Personalize your message – why does the Chicago Metro History Fair matter to you? What is the fundraising goal you are trying to reach? Do you want them to join you as a team?
- Send reminders every week or two – it usually takes donors a few reminders before you hit them at a convenient time to make a pledge.
- If your friends and family aren’t tech savvy or you don’t have an email address, you can also collect offline pledges. Donations mailed to CMHEC will be credited toward your overall fundraising goal.
- Promptly thank your contributors for their support.
- After the event, send another message that lets your donors know about your Hike for History experience – maybe they’ll decide to walk next year!
Thank you for your help!
